Services Held For Jackie Burden, Drowning Victim

Services for Jackie Lee Burden, 28, who was drowned in Skunk River Friday, July 20, were held at the First Baptist church Monday afternoon.

He was born April 17, 1934 in Milford, Nebr., the son of Floyd D. and Hazel Schweitzer Burden.

On April 13, 1958, he was married to Carol Jane White in Rome. She survives. Of this union was born one son, Douglas Lee, living at home.

Also surviving are his parents, six brothers, Richard, Kenneth Robert, Lowell, and Gary of Mt. Pleasant, William of Pasadena, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Vernon (Jean) Roth of Wayland.

He was a member of the United States Marine Corp. and served overseas in the Korean conflict. He attended the Baptist Church in Rome.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday. The Reverends Glen Richard of the Mennonite Church in Mt. Pleasant and C. H. Peters of the Baptist church in Lockridge officiated.

Jean Register was the organist, and a quartet, Gloria Richards, Duane Richard, Sharon Schlatter and Royce Roth sang.

Bearers were Robert Kramer, Beryl Conner, Charles Wesely, Leonard Boeding, George White and Guy Messer.
