Vera Aicher

Vera Aicher, 78, of 702 W. Henry, Mount Pleasant, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Oct. 23, 1918, north of Rome in Henry County, she was the daughter of Omar L. and Elsie C. Erickson Gholson. She married Dale H, Aicher Feb. 20, 1941, in Burlington.

She attended country schools at Oakland Mills and West Highland. She worked briefly in a grocery store in Hillsboro and was a sales clerk at Harrison's Dime Store in Mount Pleasant for 18 years.

Mrs. Aicher was a member of the Oakland Mills Community Church and was active in Oakland Mills Ladies Aid group.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Nancy Ackles of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Richard of Montrose, Dean of rural Mount Pleasant, and Ted of rural Fairfield; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Robertson of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, one sister, and two brothers.

Visitation will begin at noon today with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mr. Aicher will be 11 a.m. Friday at Oakland Mills Community Church in Oakland Mills. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for Oakland Mills Community Church.
