Dale Aicher

Dale Henry Aicher, 95, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Jefferson County Hospital.

Born Aug. 31, 1913, in Oakland mills he was the son of John Lewis and Matilda Marie Timmerman Aicher. On Feb. 20, 1941, he married Vera P. Gholson in Burlington. She died Jan. 14, 1997.

Mr. Aicher was a lifelong farmer. He worked for 10 years at Messer Seed Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and was a Cubs fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Behner of Fairfield; three sons, Richard Aicher of Keokuk, Dean Aicher of Mount Pleasant and Ted Aicher of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one step-great-grandchild, his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Oakland Mills Community Church, southwest of Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends.

The funeral for Mr. Aicher will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakland Hills Community Church with Rev. Bob Dameron officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
