Robert D. Messer

Robert D. "Buck" Messer, 66, Route 3, Mt. Pleasant, died 2:28 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 1989, at Henry county Health Center.

He was born March 11, 1933, in Rome, the son of JoSephus and Alma Sammons Messer.

April 30, 1946, in Iowa City, he married Priscilla Wesely, who died Dec. 14, 1983. He then married Marcelline White Feb. 14, 1970.

He is survived by his wife; son, Jerry Messer, Ainsworth; daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Janet) Baity, West Burlington; three stepsons, Larry, Dean and Richard White, Rome; two stepdaughters, Mrs, David (Gayle) Cornick, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Kris (Anita) Amrine, Brighton.

Also surviving are threes sisters, Mrs. Blanche Barr and Mrs. Wilma Thornton, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Betty Bouge, Ft. Lupton, Colo.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 12 stepgrandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his first wife.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev, Darrel Rhodes and the Rev. Ernest Elzey officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery, northwest of Rome.

Friends may call as they desire at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, where a memorial has been established to White Oak Cemetery.
