Thursday, 13 April 1961Mrs. Alice Messer Taken By Death
Mrs. Alice May Messer, 83, of Rome, died Wednesday evening, April 12, at Memorial hospital.
She was born April 2, 1878, the daughter of Daniel and Litcy Freeman Collins. She was married in Mt. Pleasant on July 4, 1896 to Josy Messer, who died in 1947.
Children who survive are Mrs. C. A. (Lottie) Sammons of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Polliser of Farmington, Mrs. Homer (Ruby) Adams of Olds, Basil Messer of Fairfield, Max Messer of Farmington, Allen Messer of Cairo, Mo., Noel Messer of Lockridge and Ralph Messer of Rome. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and five brothers and sisters. They are Harry Collins of Oregon, Milo Collins of Douds, Mrs. Lonnie Wyner of Ottumwa, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson of Burlington and Helen Collins of Nebraska.
Funeral services for Mrs. Messer will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weir-Cookes Funeral Home with the Rev. James Troxel, of the First Baptist church officiating.
Interment will be in White Oak cemetery.
