Monday, 31 December 1962Messer Rites On Wednesday
Everett L. Messer, 52, 602 Depot Ave., died suddenly Sunday afternoon at Jefferson County Hospital. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance two hours earlier after suffering a stroke at his home.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Robert Swanson. Burial will be in White Oak cemetery north of Rome.
Messer had been employed at the Cable Lumber Co. for the past three years. He previously worked for Cook's Transfer for 17 years.
Messer had been a resident of Fairfield for 35 years. He was born July 13, 1910 in Jefferson county, the son of Elmer and Stella Hill Messer. He married Gletha Clark.
Surviving are one son, Leroy Messer, Oakland, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Elmer Messer, Fairfield; and the following sisters and brothers:
Mrs. Viola Samuelson and Mrs. Grace Samuelson, Fairfield; Mrs. Bessie Standley and Mrs. Esther Dollins, Davenport; Mrs. Gladys Willich, Buffalo; and Leonard Messer, Chadwick, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
