Richard Orval Manning, 86, of Fairfield, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
Born March 17, 1914, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Collins and Florence Kelley Manning. He married Ina F. Sammons on July 6, 1948, in Lancaster, Mo. He was an electrician for Louden Machinery Co. for 38 years before his retirement.
He attended the Free Methodist Church in Fairfield.
Survivors include his wife; four sisters, Mildred Manary of Fairfield, Dorothy Parr of Mesa, Ariz., and Juanita Jennings and Joan Wingate, both of Ottumwa; one brother, Dean Manning of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. There will be no family visitation.
The funeral for Mr. Manning will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, near Rome.
A memorial has been established for White Oak Cemetery.
