29 March 1960Services Set For Oral (Olie) Fitch
Funeral services for Oral (Olie) Fitch, 72, will be held in the Weir-Cookes Funeral Home Thursday, March 31, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. James Troxel officiating.
Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery.
The son of Oscar and Laura Scarff Fitch, he was born at Trenton, Ia., Aug. 21, 1887.
In his youth he was active in well-drilling and ranching in Montana. After World War I, in which he was disabled during the Battle of Chateau Thierry, he retired and became a member of the DAV and a charter member of the V.F.W. He belonged to the White Oak Church.
He is survived by a son, Leo J. Fitch of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter Mrs. Donald (Lela) Coleson of Fairfield; a sister, Mrs. Leo (Vera) Messer of White Oak Community, Rome, Ia.; and a brother Frank Fitch of Mt. Pleasant.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
