Melvin Scarff

Melvin W. Scarff, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born April 17, 1925, in the Richwood community near Trenton, he was the son of Orel and Ethel Fickel Scarff.

Mr. Scarff was a materials handler at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.

Survivors include his brother, Marvin O. Scarff of Mount Pleasant; one nephew; one niece; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service for Mr. Scarff will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Richwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating.

A memorial has been established to the St. Alphonsus building fund.

Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
