Earl Clifford Morrow

Earl Clifford "Jake" Morrow, 83, 811 College Ave., Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, April 30, 1991, at 2:35 a.m. at the long-term care unit at Henry County Health Center.

He was born May 19, 1907, the son of Fred and Millie Gholson Morrow. On Aug. 26, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo., he married Elizabeth Wehrle.

A WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked for the I.A.A.P., Burlington, retiring in 1972.

He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans, Hawkeye State #18; member of American Legion Post 58, Mt. pleasant; life member if Engineers International Union, Local 537, Rock Island, Ill.; and of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Fred, Jamestown, N.D.; one brother, John Morrow, Mt. Pleasant; four sisters, Velda Blackstock, Chariton; Vera Cornwell, Glendale, Ariz.; Ruth Peterson, Sun City, Ariz.; and Gertrude Schontz, Gold Hill, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters, Ina Combs and Mabel Welch.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Beatty's funeral Home, with Dr. Virgil Fry officiating. Interment will be in Richwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Beatty's, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Richwood Cemetery.
