MT. PLEASANT-Mr. George Elmer Fickel, 84, died Saturday morning at the Henry County hospital, Mt. Pleasant.
He was born Jan. 29, 1881, in; Henry county, the son of John Luther and Cornelia Ford Fickel. Sept. 7, 1903, he married Cornelia Gholson. He operated a grocery store for several years in Rome, he was a farmer and a railroad employee. He retired in 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Mrs. LeeRoy Scarf, Rome; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Montgomery, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Alice Miller, Burlington. Two brothers and two sisters are dead.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p. m at Weir-Cookes funeral home. Burial will be in Richwood cemetery.
