Lester L. Smith

Lester L. Smith, 84, of 3410 12th Ave. SW, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10, 1994, in Mercy Medical Center after a short illness.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. today. The Rev. Frank Schultz of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial: Richwoods Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. Surviving is a brother, Leo of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Born May 10, 1910, in Mount Pleasant, to John and Edith Jay Smith,
Lester served with the Army during World War II and worked in the maintenance department at FMC, Cedar Rapids, for many years. He was a member of VFW Post 788, Fairfax American Legion and Otter Creek Gun Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, Lester had a great love of the outdoors, gardening and his family.

A memorial fund has been established.
