Stephen W. Hoover

Stephen William Hoover, 87, died about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 1973, at Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, after a lengthy illness.

The son of Andrew and Mary Burke Hoover, he was born Dec. 25, 1885, in Henry County, Iowa.

A life long resident of Henry County and Mt. Pleasant, Mr. Hoover was married to Mary Swailes who died on June 10, 1963.

Surviving are two daughters and three sons, Mrs. James (Mary) Prottsman, Rome, Mrs. Ron (Ida) Barron, New London, Robert Hoover and Herbert Hoover of Mt. Pleasant, Patrick Hoover of Burlington; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Hoover, Mt. Pleasant; and one sister, Mrs. Harry Ford, Mt. Pleasant.

Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, at St. Alphonsus Catholic church with the Rev. Paul Albers officiating. Interment will be in the St, Alphonsus Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home.
