Tuesday, 31 May 1988Cecil G. Riley dies Friday
Cecil G. Riley, 86, of Washington, died Friday, May 27, 1988at Washington County Hospital. He had been in ill health the past several months.
Services were held this afternoon at Jones Funeral Home. Burial was at Wayland Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for either the Washington Care Center or Marion Avenue Baptist Church.
Cecil Griffin Riley was born July 18, 1901, in Walnut Township of Jefferson County. His parents were Jack and Annie B. Griffin Riley. He was raised in the Coppock area.
On July 3, 1924 he married Lavina Christner at Mt. Pleasant.
He had lived in Washington since 1964. Mr. Riley was a farmer in Washington County near Coppock.
He was a member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Lavina of Washington and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
