Joseph Graber

Joseph Graber, 101, died at the Parkview Home, Wayland, Saturday, March 19, 1988, at 8:40 p.m.

Mr. Graber was born March 1, 1887, at Alsace-Lorraine, coming to the United States at the age of 4, at which time he was adopted by Peter and Barbara Roth Graber. On Jan. 30, 1912, at Noble he married Barbara Rich who died July 13, 1971.

A retired farmer of the Wayland community, he was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Surviving are nine children: Mrs. Boyd (Welma) Nelson, Elkhart, Ind.; Raymond, Mt. Pleasant; Willis, Wayland; Dr. Virgil, Elkhart, Ind.; Mrs. Roger (Rachel) Wyse and Mrs. Max (Berniece) Heth, both of Wayland; Mrs. Wilbur (Lois) Swartzendruber, Wellman; Mrs. Charles (Sara Lu) Frederick, Iowa City; Mrs. Dale (Beulah) Swartzendruber, Wayland; 38 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence, three grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church Wednesday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Glen Richard and the Rev. Edmond Miller will officiate with interment in the Sugar Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Wayland.

Memorials have been established to the donor's choice.
