Frank Bishop Funeral Held

Funeral Service for Frank Bishop was held at the Cookes funeral home Sunday afternoon at two-thirty. The Rev. E. L. Jeambey, assisted by the Rev. Geo. G. Hunt, officiated. Mrs. Thomas Cathey sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden". Mrs. Dan Winter played the organ.

The flowers were taken care of by Mary Williams, Verna Martin, Verona Johnson and Letha Boroff.

Interment was in Burge cemetery near New London. The following served as pallbearers, Fred Arnold, Fred Traut, Frank Edwards, Harry Cornick, Dan Winter and Will Crane.

James Franklin Bishop, son of Letitia Sheppard and James Bishop, was born February 9, 1871, in Des Moines County, Iowa. On December 8, 1897, he was married to Miss Bertha Marshall at Carthage, Illinois. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Edna Dockendorff of New London, Iowa; Mrs. Inez Scarff and Miss Helen Bishop of Mt. Pleasant and Glen Bishop of Quincy, Illinois, and Nellie who died at the age of three. On September 12, 1911 his wife passed away leaving the four small children. On June 23, 1921, he was married to Miss Nora Scarff at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

For twenty-one years he was an employee of Hayes Company, but had followed the carpenter and painter trade for the past eighteen years, being actively employed until his sudden illness and death.

He departed this life at Memorial hospital, July 17, 1942 at the age of 71 years and 5 months. He leaves to mourn his departing, his wife, the four children, eight grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and numerous other relatives. Also a host of friends.
