Richard T. Bell

Richard T. BELL, 79, Route 1, Salem, died Friday, May 8, 1987, at 9:42 p.m. at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born Dec. 29, 1907, in New London, the son of Joseph and Mabel BEER BELL. On Nov. 15, 1938, at Indianola, he married Irene STANLEY who died May 22, 1975. On Dec. 29, 1976, he married Evelyn Lee SEPTER at the Cedar Creek Friends Church.

A farmer, Mr. BELL was a member of the Salem Friends Church. For the past 29 years he had served on the board of directors of Quakerdale.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, R. Norman, Cedar Rapids, and Ronald, Monticello, Ill.; one daughter, Shirley BELL, Iowa City; four grandchildren; one brother, Robert, Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy DORRY, Roseburg, Oregon, and Mrs. Harold (Ruth) HARSHBARGER, Salem.

His parents and one sister, Alice BELL, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Friends Church. The Rev. Wayne Conant, the Rev. Richard Whitehead and the Rev. Marvin Hoeksema will officiate with interment in the Salem South Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for his church or Quakerdale.
