George W. CALHOUN, 67, Route 5, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1987, at 8:15 p.m. at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born Dec. 16, 1919, northwest of Mt. Pleasant, the son of Osie and Luella GILL CALHOUN. On Sept. 8, 1939, at Ft. Madison, he married Bernice Marcelean FORD.

Mr. CALHOUN was a member of the Church of God at Cairo and was a cemetery caretaker and grave digger. He also was a security guard at the Mental Health Institute and owner of Calhoun Monument Sales.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Norman; three daughters, Carolyn (Kay) THACKER, Mrs. Scott (Dianna) MILLER, and Janice Darlene POTTER, all of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Darrel (Betty) MITTS, Plattsmouth, Neb., and Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) JOHNSON, Bellevue, Neb.

His parents, three brothers, Clarence, Avery and Paul, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha NICHOLS, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Swigart will officiate with interment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
