MISS MAY DAVIS

Miss May Davis, a life-time resident of Mt. Pleasant passed away Thursday, May 9 at Henry County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three and a half years suffering a broken hip. She was 98 years old on May 1st.

The daughter of Nelson J. and Emma Davis. She made her home with her parents during their life times and continued to live in the family home at 406 N. Main Street until she entered the hospital.

Miss Davis attended Iowa Wesleyan College and was a member of the class of 1892. She continued during her lifetime to take an active interest in the college and its activities.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church.

Miss Davis was active in many organizations and clubs including D.A.R., Alpha Xi Delta, and Chapter Original A, P.E.O. She had the distinction of the oldest continuous membership in P.E.O. at the time of her death, being a member for 83 years.

She had two sisters, Mina Evans and Lucy Weir, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a nephew, Davis Weir of Pompano Beach, Fla., and a niece, Helen Weir Martin of Tucson, Arizona.

The funeral will be held at the Crane, Ewart, Young Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. C. Dendy Garrett, pastor of the United Methodist Church will officiate.

Family will receive friends at Crane, Ewart, Young Funeral Home Friday 7 to 9 p.m.
