JOHN NEAL DIES AT NOON TODAY

WELL KNOWN RESIDENT PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS.
Had Lived in and Near Mt. Pleasant for More Than Half a Century - Death Due to Cancer of Stomach.

Mr. John N. Neal, one of Mt. Pleasant's oldest and best known citizens, passed away at noon today at this home on North Harrison street, after an illness of eight weeks. Death was due to cancer of the stomach, from which he had been a sufferer for many months, being in poor health all winter.

Mr. Neal was born in Indiana, and had he lived until next October, would have been 78 years of age. He has lived in and near Mt. Pleasant since about 1844, previous to his moving to Mt. Pleasant, residing on his farm one and one-half miles west of town. He has been a most successful farmer and business man and was a well to do and highly respected citizen.

He is survived by a wife and three daughters, - Mrs. Will Litzenberg of this county, Miss Jessie Neal of Chicago, and Mrs. Dell Swartz, of Elora, Mexico. Mrs. Litzenberg and Mrs. Swartz were both present when their father died, and Miss Neal had been here, but had returned to Chicago. She will probably return for the funeral. The arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made.
