DEATH AT NEW LONDON.
Mrs. Jas. Hobbs Passed Away at Home There Saturday.
New London, Ia., Jan. 29 - Anna Ursula Abbott, daughter of Sylvester and Emma Abbott, was born at Busti Corners, Chautauqua county, N.Y., May 2, 1849, and died at the family residence in New London, Ia., Jan. 27, 1912.
She came with her parents to New London, Ia., in 1856 and united in marriage to James Hobbs July 3, 1866. To this union six children were born: Harry Earl, who died in infancy; Mrs. Margaret Stucker, of Ft. Madison; Mrs. Nellie Gabbert, Albert and Warren, of New London, and Frank, of Burlington. She is also survived by her husband, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Helen Byers, of Pasco, Wash., and one brother of Race Track, Mont. A loving wife and mother has departed to the better world. She was a charter member of the Methodist Protestant church of this city, and remained a consistent Christian to her death.
She has been a sufferer for many years, but finally, after being confined to her bed for eight weeks, she rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
The funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m., at the Methodist Protestant church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Scull, who was assisted by the pastors of the other churches of the city. A large concourse of people were in attendance and the floral offerings were profuse. The remains were laid to rest in the Burge Cemetery.
