DAVENPORT Dorothy E. Olson, 94, formerly of Davenport, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa.
Private graveside services were held Monday, June 7, 2010, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City was in charge of her arrangements.
Dorothy E. Willey was born February 13, 1916, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (DeMuth) Willey. She was united in marriage to Harold Olson in 1935 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. She spent her lifetime caring for her family, enjoying the outdoors with her gardens and flowers, crocheting, sewing, and playing music just by hearing it. For years Dorthy was a healthcare provider and was a volunteer for the council on aging in Cantonment, Fla. She was a former member of the DAR.
Her family includes her children, Harold B. Olson Jr. (Marilyn) of Prospect Heights, Ill., Margaret R. Nelson (Homer) of Bettendorf, James J. Olson Sr. (Mary Jane) of Davenport, Iowa, Lillian N. Williamson (Wayne) of Pensacola, Fla., and Mary E. Olson of Iowa City; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Albert J. Olson, and daughter, Patricia A. Layton.
