N. BLANCHE THORSON

N. Blanche Thorson, 100, of Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mt. Pleasant, died 7:55 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, 1988, at Henry County Health Center.

She was born Dec. 19, 1887, in Ft. Dodge, the daughter of Thorvald O. and Katharine B. Fowler Thorson.

She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1914 with a degree in music.

She had worked a the Colonial Theater two years as a the pianist for silent movies. She taught piano in Mt. Pleasant for over 35 years and was the church organist at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant, for over 37 years.

She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of American Colonists and Founders Chapter of the National T.T.T.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and one sister, Mrs. Edward [Ruth] Nast, Las Gatas [sic: Los Gatos], Calif.

Her parents; one brother, Orville; and three sisters, Marie Tiede, Christine Speaker and Katharine Turner, preceded her in death.

The Requiem Holy Eucharist will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17, with the Rev. Father Wayne Kamm officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at noon, Sunday, at the Weir Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.

Memorials have been established to St. Michael's Episcopal Church or Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant.
