Florence Lucille Seager 1919 - 2009

Florence Lucille Seager, 90, of Burlington, died at 1:00 AM Friday, December 4, 2009, at the Great River Medical Center-Klein Center in Burlington.

Born October 21, 1919, in Henry County, IA, she was the daughter of Lee Roy and Grace Summer Henessee. On April 6, 1942, she married Philip E. Seager in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He died September 23, 1987.

Florence had worked for the Mount Pleasant Mental Hospital and then at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, playing the piano, traveling, and especially enjoyed visiting with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie (Gil) Rheinschmidt of Middletown, Bette (Duane) Tarrence of Burlington, and Tresea (John) Swan of Olathe, KS; five grandchildren, Chad (Samantha) Tarrence, Carie (Jason) Edwards, Jason (Darcy) Swan, Kris Swan, Scott (Ashley) Swan; five great-grandchildren, Mikaela Tarrence, Chance and Cason Edwards, Parker and Chloe Swan; one brother-in-law, Ralph Seager of Olathe, KS; one sister-in-law, Rose Edna Emerson of Paul, ID; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert, two brothers, one sister, and three sister-in-laws.

Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM Sunday, December 6, 2009 with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Seager will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Father Joseph Phung as the Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established to SS. John & Paul Catholic Church and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
