Margaret Emerson

Margaret M. Emerson, 71, of 308 N. Adams, Mount Pleasant, died at 127 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at Henry County Health Center.

Born Dec. 4, 1925, at New London, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Grace Summers Henessee. On Dec. 21, 1951, she married James L. Emerson in Mount Pleasant. He died Jan. 22, 1992.

Mrs. Emerson worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and, during harvest, worked at Pioneer Seed. She also worked at Emerson Electric. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant and Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of Salem Kitchen Band. She enjoyed drawing and gardening. She lived in the Salem community before moving to Mount Pleasant in October 1995.

Survivors include one son, Mike Emerson of Lockridge; one daughter, Mary Bell of Lonedell, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ellis Henessee of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Lucille Seager of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m., and the family will receive friends until 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Emerson will be 1030 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for American Cancer Society.
