Death of Fred Hagie - Well Known Citizen Passed Away Early This Morning -
Sudden Death Due to Heart Trouble, Probably of Many Years duration. Was Successful Farmer. Leaves wife and six children.Mr. Fred Hagie, one of the best known retired farmers of Henry County, passed away about three o'clock this morning at his home on Broad Street, just north of the college, death resulting from heart trouble known as angina pectoralis.
Mr. Hagie had been troubled with weakness of his heart action for two weeks but it was a week ago that his condition was such as to call the family physician, Dr. Geeseks. Mr. Hagie was found suffering from angina pectoralis. He was soon relieved however and by Tuesday was feeling better. Wednesday, however, he felt worse, but regained strength until yesterday he was about the house. He went to sleep early last evening but awakened about midnight, feeling uneasy. The uneasiness grew but he did not feel the necessity of a physician. However, some time after two o'clock his condition was so bad that his doctor was called but Mr. Hagie passed away before the doctor got to his side. It is probable hat he had been suffering from this disease for many years but did not recognize its seriousness, as the family recalls many instances of attacks lighter but similar to the ones occurring the last two weeks.
Mr. Hagie leaves a wife and six children, none of whom are at home and widely scattered. The family came here from the Wayne community in the north part of the country and where Mr. Hagie farmed most successfully. No arrangements for the funeral have been made.
