Mrs. Elizabeth Metzger Dies
Mother of Earl Metzger is Buried
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Metzger, mother of Earl Metzger, were held Saturday afternoon at the Winfield Methodist church. The Rev. John C. Porath officiated. Interment was in the Winfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Rex Enke and Miss Frances Metzger sang "The old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" at the services. They were accompanied at organ by Miss Mabel Day.
Pallbearers were Chet Marshall, Guy Allen, Harold Honts, Floyd Gruver, Norbert Laughlin and Ed Robertson.
Elizabeth Evelyn Honts daughter of James and Alberta Trader Honts, was born on October 29, 1871 near Avon, Illinois. She passed away last Thursday at the Harlan Hotel at Mount Pleasant at the age of 73, years , five months and 13 days.
When she was less than a year old her parents moved to the Spring Run neighborhood where she had continued to live most of her life.
She was united in marriage to Eugene Metzger on april 25, 1889. to this union were born two sons one dying in infancy, and the other, Earl, who now lives on the home place.
As a gril she attended the Spring Run church, later transferring her membership to the Winfield Methodist church. She was also a member of the D.A.R.
Being preceded in death by her husband and son she is survived by her son Earl, his wife Mabel, three grandchildren, Jenne, and Bobby, at home , and Dale, who is in the service of his country also three brothers, Robert, Frank and Jesse Honts of Muscatine; several nieces nephews and cousins.
