THOMAS BARTON DEAD.
Well Known Resident of the County Passed Away Friday.
For many Years Had Been a Resident of Oakland Vicinity. Is Survived By Three Children. Funeral Services Held Sunday.

At six o'clock Friday evening, Mr. Thomas Barton one of the well known residents of the county passed away after an illness of nearly six weeks. The cause of his death was liver trouble. Mr. Barton was sixty-three years of age and he is survived by three children, Sadie, Fanny and Fred.

Until six years ago Mr. Barton had lived at Oakland, when he moved to this city. He served three years in the Civil war being a member of Co I. 14th Iowa Infantry.

The funeral services will be held Sunday morning at half past ten o'clock and will be conducted by the members of the G. A. R. Post.

FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD.
Sunday morning at eleven o'clock occurred the funeral of Mr. Thomas Barton at his home in the north part of town. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. Havighorst, and Commander Snyder of the G. A. R. made a short talk on Mr. Barton's life as a soldier. The pall-bearers were old comrades in the 14th Iowa Infantry. The remains were interred in the Barton cemetery on Big Creek.
