Mrs. Bessie A. Klopfenstein, 87, died Wednesday July 24, 1985 at Parkview Home in Wayland after a two month illness. The funeral was Friday July 26 at 10:30 A.M. at the Wayland Mennonite Church with the Rev. Oliver Yutzy officiating. Burial was in North Hill Cemetery in Wayland. A memorial has been established for the Wayland Mennonite Church.

Music was by the organist, Mrs. LeRoy Meyer. Casket bearers were Dale Nebel, Gerald Nebel, John Leichty, Raymond Nebel, Max Leichty, and Michael Klopfenstein.

Mrs. Klopfenstein was born in Wayland August 28, 1897, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Eicher Roth. She married R. Glenn Klopfenstein at Wayland January 15, 1919. Mrs. Klopfenstein was a homemaker and also farmed with her husband until 1958 when they built the Rose Motel which they owned and operated untl 1964.

Surviving are two daughters, Maxine Hensley of Iowa City and Mildred (Mrs. Wilbert) Graber of Washington; two sons, Fred of Iowa City and Glenn,Jr. of Seymour, Indiana; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and nine brothers and sisters.
