Mrs. Ida Jones died at her home in Des Moines Monday morning after an illness of two years. The last few months her condition has been very serious, leaving no hope for her recovery. Doctor and Mrs. Jones were residents of Wayland for many years and were prominent in the social and business life of the community. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gardner who came to Wayland in the early 1880s. The family at the time consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Gardner, now deceased, Elja, now Mrs. Ed Farris of Brighton, Ida, the subject of this sketch, and Gay, now a resident of California.

Ida was an accomplished musician and for many years presided at the organ in most church services and public gatherings. In recent years, Doctor and Mrs. Jones have made their home in Des Moines. The body of Mrs. Jones was brought to the home of her sister, Mrs. Ed Farris of Brighton, Wednesday, from where the funeral service was held this Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was made in Greenmound Cemetery, near the resting place of the parents. The sympathy of all Wayland friends go out to the bereaved family.
