BRIDGEPORT--A funeral for Bertha E. McFarland, 89, of Bridgeport, who died Friday n the Bridgeport nursing home will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Christensen Funeral Home here with the Rev. George Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery here.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today.
She was born Jan. 21, 1892, in Henry County, Iowa, and attended school at Danville, Iowa. She received her teaching certificate from Howe's Academy at Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She taught school in the state of Washington, until her marriage to Dorman McFarland on Feb. 22, 1916, at Danville. In October of that year they moved to Bridgeport, where she had made her home since.
She is survived by son Robert of Elmhurst, Ill.; daughter Janet Reagor of Augusta, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
