Juanita Rice
Juanita L. Rice, 84, of Delong, Ill., died at 6:29 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Care Center of Abingdon in Abingdon, Ill.

Born Feb. 7, 1924, in Boone, she was the daughter of Alvia and Agnes Elizabeth Peel Rector. In 1942, she married Dan D. Rice in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and helped her husband farm near New London.

She was a graduate of the Vinton School for the Blind. She had lived in Delong since 1998. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Celia "Cee" Sloan of Delong; one son, David Rice of Gainesville, Fla.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Darrell Rector of Davenport.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. led by Eleanor Landon.

The graveside service for Mrs. Rice will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Burge Cemetery, New London.

A memorial has been established for OSF Hospice.
