Herbert Wesley Miller, 77, of West Burlington died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born October 28, 1930 in Des Moines County, Iowa, he was the son of Wesley and Alice Rogers Miller. On June 30, 1951 he married Esther Etsler in Alexandria, Indiana.

Mr. Miller attended New London High School. He worked for I.A.A.P., Iowa Plate and Glass Co., Mendenhall Oil Co., and Best Lock Co. He was the caretaker for Madison County Camp Association and also worked for both New London and Burlington School Districts. Mr. Miller also farmed.

Mr. Miller attended of Burlington Apostolic Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Esther Miller of West Burlington; two daughters, Charlene (Dan) Henson of Rossville, Georgia and Eileen Walker of Grand Junction, Colorado; four sons, Jeff (Kith) Miller of Fairfield, Maurice (Cathy) Miller of LaFayette, Georgia, Myron (Vicki) Miller of Galesburg, Illinois and Evan (Arlene) Miller of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Dale Miller of Fairfield, Larry Miller of Rock Island, Illinois, John Miller of New London, and Jerry Miller of Connersville, Indiana; and four sisters, Ruth Seager of Olathe, Kansas, Anna Myers and Judy Gaylord both of New London and Joan Hesseltine of Tennessee.

One daughter Jeanene, his parents, one brother in infancy and one grandson Jeffrey preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established for Burlington Apostolic Christian Church.
