DEATH TAKES T. W. McMILLAN
Had Served As City Manager 35 Years

Thomas W. McMillan, Mt. Pleasant's city manager, died at the Memorial hospital Friday evening about seven o'clock from heart disease and other complications. He was 66 years old.

Mr. McMillan had served as city manager for 35 years, having completed the 35 years in this capacity only last week. He, however, had been employed by the town many years prior to being named to the manager position. He began his work at the town waterworks in his early youth.

Conservative, careful and systematic in his management of municipally-owned enterprises, he had seen them grow to the prominence which they have in Mt. Pleasant and include the electric light and power plant, the water plant and the ice plant. The last two years his health had failed greatly and he was forced to give up a major part of his work to his assistant, Mr. Lee Speaker. In recent months he had frequently stated that he expected to retire at the end of the term next April.

He is survived by his wife and by a sister, Flora McKean, Jackson Hole, Wyo., and a brother, Warren McMillan of Aurora, Ill. The latter of whom is here for the funeral.

Services will be held at the McMillan home on Pearl Street Sunday morning at nine o'clock and will be strictly private. The casket will be open at the home after three o'clock this afternoon and friends may call after that hour.
