Michael Kaufman
Michael L. Kaufman, 51, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born June 7, 1956, in Washington, he was the son of Raymond and Luella Alliman Kaufman. On April 30, 1976, he married Donna Peiffer in Riverside, Calif.

Mr. Kaufman worked at Veyance Tech Incorporated and Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company in Mount Pleasant. He graduated from WACO High School. He served in the Air Force. He enjoyed reading science-fiction books and mushrooming.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joseph Kaufman and Michael "Bubba" Kaufman, both of Wayland; one grandchild; his mother, Luella Miller and stepfather Roy of Wayland; his father, Raymond Kaufman and stepmother Bonnie of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, Terry Kaufman of Fairfield and Kenny Kaufman and Dennis Kaufman, both of Wayland; two sisters, Sherry Iccarino-Kaufman of Davenport and Lynne Reighard of Topeka, Kan.; half sisters, Lori, Crystal, Carmen and Holly; and stepbrothers and stepsisters.

He was preceded in death by one brother and his grandparents.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Kaufman will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Lowe officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society.
