Nelle Marie Vandersnick, 102, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born May 9, 1905, in Wayland, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Bain Schroll. On Sept.17, 1924, she married Frank Sylvester Vandersnick. He died Jan. 2, 1979.

Mrs. Vandersnick was a lifelong resident of Henry County. She worked as a dental and medical assistant for various area dentists and physicians. She was a homemaker. She assisted in food preparation for her daughter's restaurant, Van's Lunch. She served as coordinator for the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverlee Hagerman of Cedar Rapids, and Juanita Allender of Peoria, Ill.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, two sisters, two brothers and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established for the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization.
