Marjorie Dyall

Marjorie Elizabeth Dyall, 85, of Mount Pleasant died Monday, May 28, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born July 23, 1921, in Albia, she was the daughter of Harry and Artis Burdess Hope. On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Charles Herbert in Mount Pleasant.

She graduated from Chariton High School in 1939. She operated her family's dress shops in Mount Pleasant and Clinton. She worked with her husband at Dyall Photography Studio, where she won Iowa state championships for her process of coloring black and white photography. She was a distributor for Shaklee Products. She produced the "You Are What You Eat" segments for KKSI radio. She wrote for the Mount Pleasant News and presented several classes on the subject of natural nutrition. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Chancel Choir. She was a member of the Duplicate Bridge and Lea Bradley's Monday Night Bridge Club. She was a gifted keynote speaker. She was a participant with the Mount Pleasant Rhythm Rockers. She enjoyed organic gardening and cooking with natural products.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Donald and Brad, both of Mount Pleasant and John of St. Louis; one daughter, Hope Scarff of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Weir and Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Dyall will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Edward Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established to the Natural Health Federation.
