Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. C. A. SWAN at Artesia, California. Mr. and Mrs. SWAN were once residents here, and have many acquaintances in this county. Mrs. SWAN before her marriage was Miss Mattie SMITH. She had been in poor health for some time and had gone to California in hopes to be benefitted.

Note: Martha Beach Swan, [Aug 20, 1844 - Aug 23, 1898] is buried in Willeford Cemetery, Center Twp, Henry County, IA.
