Elizabeth Shelledy

Elizabeth Jane Shelledy, 97, of New London, died 7:05 p.m. Friday, March 31, 1989, in the New London Care Center.

Born Oct. 26, 1891, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of James and Finetta Brown Calloway. She married Sherman Shelledy, Feb. 25, 1914 in New London. He died November 27, 1955.

She graduated from the Howes Academy and taught rural school before she married. She a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New London, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor Bank, Salem; two sons, Kenneth Shelledy and Floyd Shelledy, both of New London; a brother, David Calloway, Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliot Chapel in New London.

The service for Mrs. Shelledy will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in New London with the Rev. James Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.

A memorial has been established for the Presbyterian Church in New London.
