Mrs. Hannah Hummell

Mrs. Hannah Jane Hummell, 79, of 1700 S. Eighth street, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, in University hospitals, Iowa City, after an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 28, 1873, in Henry County, the late daughter of Gordon and Louisa Willey McComas, and was married Dec. 27, 1899, in Henry County to William Hummell.

Mrs. Hummell was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Paul Caster Rebecca lodge, Hawkeye natives and Daughters of Union veterans.

Surviving are one son, Donald Hummell, Burlingto; two step-sons, Orlando Hummell, Los Angeles, Calif., and William T. Hummell, Marion; three grandchildren and one great-granchild; one brother, Elisha McComas, Moline, Ill., and half-sister, Mrs. Margaret Smith, Chicago.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Prugh's chapel with Rev. Earl Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
