Melvin S. Warth

Melvin Sylvester Warth, 63, of Burlington, passed away April 25, 2002. Born April 17,1939, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter William and Lois Irene Pugh Warth. Mr. Warth married Carol Helmick January 9, 1965, in Danville.

He was raised in Burlington and attended Burlington schools. He worked at Klein Manufacturing for 27 years and Mt. Pleasant Warehouse seven years before retiring.

He served two years in the Army from 1962-1964. He was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge No. 579. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Carol; two sons, Mel (Renee) Warth and Walter Ray (Carolyn) Warth, both of Burlington; two daughters, Brenda Lynn Parks of Pekin, IL, and Tina Louise (Breyon) Gibson of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Emily, Edie, Melanie, Whitney, Jesse, Jasmine and Macy; six step-grandchildren, Jacob, Travis, Mathew, Vanessa, Desiree and Danyel; one step great-grandson, Lucas; two sisters, Dorothy Helmick of Fairfield and Mary Cox of Des Moines; two brothers, Donald Warth and Roger Warth, both of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

The funeral service for Mr. Warth will be Monday, April 29th at 1:00 PM in Lunning Chapel. Pastor Carl Engstrom will officiate.

Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102, 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League.

Friends may call after 9:00 AM on Sunday, April 28th in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends following Moose Rites at 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.

A memorial has been established.
