James Thacker

James A. Thacker, 67, of Muscatine, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine.

Born March 2, 1937, near Dodgeville, he was the son of Jack and Isabelle Stafford Thacker.

Mr. Thacker served in the National Guard out of Burlington. He was a lifelong farmer.

He was of Methodist faith and enjoyed going to the boat with friends, going to farm auctions and working in his shop.

Survivors include four sisters, Betty Waterhouse and Edna Roberts, both of Mount Pleasant, and Laura Samuels and Agnes Thacker, both of Muscatine; three brothers, Robert Thacker of Muscatine, George Thacker of Keosauqua and John Thacker of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

The funeral for Mr. Thacker will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial will follow in Shinar Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

A memorial has been established.
