Russell K. Remick
Russell K. Remick, 65, of rural Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday December 28, 2006 at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sharon Presbyterian Church, rural Farmington, Iowa. The Revs. Daniel Hemken and David Doerr will officiate. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 7:00 p.m. on Monday January 1, 2007 at Beatty–Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Hillsboro Fire and First Responders or to the Salem East Cemetery.
Russ was born on August 11, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Donna Nicholson Remick. He was the grandson of the late Russell and Florence Nicholson. He was united in marriage to Judith Morrow on January 27, 1961, in Salem, Iowa. He graduated from Salem High School in 1959. He farmed his entire life in the Hillsboro community raising cattle and crops. Russ enjoyed playing sports and watching his grandchildren participate in all sports. He was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church of Farmington, Henry County Cattleman's Association and Iowa Corn and Soybean Association. He was the Vice President of the William M. & Donna J. Hoaglin Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Judith, of rural Hillsboro; his children and grandchildren, Joseph and his wife Carol Remick and their children, Spenser, Morgan and Carson; Larry and his wife Lisa Remick and their children, Rachael and Elliott; and Jeanna and her husband Tom Yochum and their children, Melia Smith, Mackenzie Smith and Casey Yochum, all of Hillsboro; and his mother, Donna Hoaglin of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, his step–father William Hoaglin and his grandparents.
