Mildred Suesens

Mildred "Millie" Maxine Suesens, 89, of New London, formerly of Burlington, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Aug. 25, 1912, in Prairie Township, Hancock County, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph Ray and Hazel Kleckner Hobart. She married Carl John Suesens on Oct. 9, 1937, in Fairfield. He died June 8, 1976.

Mrs. Suesens was a 1930 graduate of Danville High School. She was a homemaker and also worked for Burlington Instrument Co.

She was of the Methodist faith and was involved with Danville 4-H, Rebecca's Lodge of New London and the Ladies Auxiliary of New London VFW Post 7641. She was an avid bingo and card player and enjoyed crocheting, crafts and hobbies

Survivors include a sister, Faye Garland of Luling, La.; a brother, Keith Hobart of New London; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday.

The funeral for Mrs. Suesens will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Dan-ville.

Memorials have been established for Hope Haven and New London Fire and Rescue.
