Olga Kinney
Olga Ann Kinney, 89, of LaBelle, Fla., formerly of New London, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, at her home.
Born Feb. 27, 1916, in East Helena, Mont., she was the daughter of Matthew and Mary Matejcic Grubio. On Nov. 14, 1935, she married Carl Kinney in Kahoka, Mo. He died Oct. 5, 1996.
Mrs. Kinney worked as a machinist for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for more than 30 years. She began work at Harper's Grocery in New London.
She was a graduate of Mystic High School in Mystic. She was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of New London Rebekahs, New London Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Get Together Club and Deerwood Golf Club. She enjoyed rummy, golf, bowling and board games. She was the running forward on Mystic's Iowa girls state basketball team.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Williams of LaBelle and Dorothy Evans-Mauzy of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Grubio of Chicago Heights, Ill.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Kinney will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Joseph Demeter officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
