Sarah Spraker
Sarah Elizabeth "Liz" Spraker, 86, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Wayland and New London, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at her home.
Born May 12, 1920, in Wayland, she was the daughter of Noah M. and Kathryn Mae Koebel Liechty. On Oct. 31, 1945, she married Emmet "Chub" Spraker in Nashua. He died March 18, 2000.
Mrs. Spraker was a homemaker. She owned Wen–Mar Restaurant in Danville and was a cook for New London Schools before retiring. She was a 1937 graduate of Wayland High School. She was a member of New London Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, pinochle and cooking.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Chrapla of Chandler, Ariz., Sharon Kurth of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan Spraker of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Spraker's body has been cremated according to her wishes.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m.
The memorial service for Mrs. Spraker will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel with the Rev. Sue Tomlinson officiating. Inurnment will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
Memorials have been established for New London Presbyterian Church and Hospice of Mercy, 2740 First Ave. N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.
