Lori Peterson
Lori Ann Peterson, 36, of New London, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born June 10, 1969, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Darrel and Connie Williams Peterson.
Ms. Peterson worked for Motorola in Mount Pleasant from 1987 to 1990.
In April 1990, she was involved in a car accident and paralyzed from a broken neck. She was a 1987 graduate of New London High School and a graduate of Southeastern Community College with a certificate in Web design. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church and a member of the Governor's Council for Developmental Disabilities for three years. She enjoyed all sports, cards, bingo, dominoes, and was a Kansas City Chiefs, New London volleyball and basketball and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She played basketball and softball in high school and was on the co-ed volleyball team.
Survivors include one son, Drew Peterson of New London; her mother and stepfather, Connie and J. Schroder of New London; her father of Mount Pleasant; her stepmother, Patty Smith of Muscatine; one sister, Penny Anding of Washington; six stepsisters, Shelley Lerdal, Kelly Hopson, J. Anna Birch, Jennifer Krieger, Jessica Stoecker, all of New London, and Marty Boles of Mount Pleasant; one stepbrother, Corey Lamm of New London; her grandparents, Vern and Gwen Peterson of Mount Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Ms. Peterson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.
Memorials have been established for New London Schools for a football sound system and New London Nursing & Rehab Center.
