Dolly Downey

Dolly Grace Downey, 90, of New London, formerly of Seattle, Wash., and Fayette, Mo., died at 12:52 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Dec. 7, 1914, in Seattle, she was the daughter of John F. and Mae Purtee Hollingsworth. She first married Louis Casada. He preceded her in death. On Oct. 28, 1959, she married John Downey in Oklahoma.
Mrs. Downey was a registered nurse. She worked at a doctor's office for eight years and at Keller Memorial in Fayette for many years.
She graduated high school in Seattle. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 Auxiliary. She enjoyed birds and flowers and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband and one son, Gary Casada of New York City.
Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with family meeting friends from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Downey will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Robert Russell officiating. Burial will be Burge Cemetery in New London.
