Lucille Billingsley

Lucille Billingsley, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at University Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born Oct. 26, 1915, in Wayland, she was the daughter of Albert and Ella Kinney Bain. On Oct. 1, 1932, she married Carl Hill. He later died. On Feb. 12, 1966, she married John Billingsley. He later died.

Mrs. Billingsley was a cook and had cooked at the Harlan House and the Mental Health Institute, both in Mount Pleasant. She then purchased the Cozy Café in Mount Pleasant and owned it for many years.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorene Allred and Ardith Ingwersen, both of Mount Pleasant; one son, Robert Hill of Mount Pleasant; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Opal Tebochurst of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, two grandsons, two twin brothers and three sisters.

There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Mrs. Billingsley will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Green Mound Cemetery in Trenton, with the Rev. Henry Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow.

Memorials have been established for the Green Mound Cemetery and to the Activity Fund at Park Place.

Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
