Gladys Norton

Gladys Hazel Norton, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died at 5 a.m. Friday, March 22, 1996, at Henry County Health Center.

Born March 9, 1906, at Wayland, she was the daughter of Albert and Ella Mae Kinney Bain. On Dec. 30, 1926, at Wayland, she married Floyd Norton. He died Aug. 26, 1985.

She was a member of Green Mound Church of God, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and Women of the Moose. She had been a homemaker at Henry County Health Center.

Survivors include four sons, Rex Norton of Mount Pleasant, Max Norton of Mount Union, Harold Norton of Fairfield and Richard Norton of Aledo, Ill.; one daughter, Dorotha Landrum of Danville; two sisters, Lucille Billingsley of Mount Pleasant, and Opal Tebockhorst of Richmond; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren, Open visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Norton will be 1030 a.m. Monday at Beatty Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, west of Trenton.

A memorial has been established for the Diabetic Association.
